Cecilia Bottecchia Cecilia Bottecchia – Eindhoven University of Technology

Cecilia Bottecchia was born in Milan (Italy) in 1989. She studied chemistry and pharmaceutical technologies at the University of Milan (Italy), where she obtained her M.Sc degree in 2014. Her master thesis was conducted under the supervision of Professor Annemieke Madder at the OBCR group at the University of Ghent (Belgium), on the topic of peptide synthesis. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student at the Technical University of Eindhoven (Netherlands), under the supervision of Dr. Timothy Noël.

Dario Cambié Dario Cambié – Eindhoven University of Technology

Dario Cambié was born near Bergamo (Italy) in 1989. He studied chemistry and pharmaceutical technologies at the University of Milan (Italy), where he obtained his M.Sc. degree in 2014. His master thesis was conducted under the supervision of Professor Sergio Romeo at the Pharmaceutical Sciences department on the topic of fragment based drug design. Previously he has been an intern at Bayer in Leverkusen (Germany) with a project on variability in analytical potency measurements. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student at the Technical University of Eindhoven (Netherlands), under the supervision of Dr. Timothy Noël.

Philipp Jäker Philipp Jäker – ETH Zürich

Philipp Jäker was born near Paderborn (Germany) in 1990. He studied Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich (LMU), where he obtained a M.Sc. degree in 2014. He joined the group of Prof. Shao-Horn at MIT for his master thesis where he worked on heterogeneous electrocatalysis. Prior to that he worked in the groups of Joachim Maier and Markus Antonietti at the Max-Planck-Institutes in Stuttgart and Potsdam in the field of electrochemistry and colloidal synthesis. Philipp is currently a Ph.D student at the ETH in Zürich under the supervision of Dr. Dorota Koziej.

Anca Roibu Anca Roibu – KU Leuven

Anca Roibu was born near Tulcea (Romania) in 1989. She studied advanced spectroscopy applied to chemistry in the Erasmus Mundus Programme at University Lille1 (France), University of Bologna (Italy) and Leipzig University (Germany) where she obtained her M.Sc degree in 2014. Her master thesis was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Roger Gläser in the Institute of Chemical Technologies (Leipzig) in the field of catalytic conversion of biomass. The master studies were followed by an internship at VÚAnCh, UniCRE Centre (Czech Republic) where she worked on conversion of fatty acids to biofuels. Previously, she obtained her B.Sc. degree in chemical engineering at University Politehnica of Bucharest (Romania). Anca is currently a PhD student at KU Leuven (Belgium) under the supervision of Dr. Simon Kuhn.

Weiyi Ouyang Weiyi Ouyang – University of Cordoba

Weiyi Ouyang, born in 1990, is from Guangdong Province, China. From 2009 to 2013, he studied Chemical Engineering and Technology at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China. Next, he went to Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) from which he obtained a Master Degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in 2014. During his master study, he worked on the topic of uptake of heavy metal in wastewater with material from E-waste, under the supervision of Prof. Gordon McKay in HKUST. In 2014, he kept working on the same research project in the position of research assistant in Prof. McKay’s group at HKUST (part-time) and in Dr. Carol Lin’s lab in City University of Hong Kong (full-time). He is a Ph.D. student at University of Cordoba in Spain, under the supervision of Prof. Rafael Luque.

Xiao-Jing Wei Xiao-Jing Wei – Eindhoven University of Technology

Xiao-Jing Wei obtained her M.Sc. degree at the State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry at Lanzhou University (China). Her M.Sc. dissertation was carried out on the topic of visible-light photocatalytic synthesis of γ-lactones under the supervision of Prof. Qiang Liu. Currently,she is a Ph.D. student at the Technical University of Eindhoven (Netherlands), under the supervision of Dr. Timothy Noël.

Prasaanth Ravi Anusuyadevi Prasaanth Ravi Anusuyadevi – ICMCB, CNRS, University of Bordeaux

Prasaanth Ravi Anusuyadevi was born in Chennai (India) on 1990. He studied Chemical Engineering (Specialization: Molecular Engineering) at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands), where he obtained his M.Sc degree in 2015. His Master thesis was carried out under the supervision of Dr. A.J. Houtepen and Dr. F. Pietra in the Opto-Electronics research group (TU Delft). His area of research was focused on the synthesis of highly luminescent CdSe/CdS core/shell colloidal Quantum dots (QDs). Prasaanth is currently a PhD student at ICMCB, CNRS, University of Bordeaux (France) under the supervision of Dr. Samuel Marre.

Irini Abdiaj Irini Abdiaj – Janssen R&D

Irini Abdiaj was born in Elbasan (Albania) in 1991. She studied Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies in Alma Mater Studiorum, University of Bologna, where she obtained a Master Degree in December, 2014. Her master thesis was titled “Rational design and synthesis of BACE-1 and GSK-3β dual inhibitors” and it was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Maria Laura Bolognesi in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Afterwards, she has carried out an Internship in Advanced Synthetic Methods and Purification in Chemical Industry at Alchemy srl., a research company in Bologna. Currently, she is a PhD Student at Janssen Research & Development in Toledo, Spain under the supervision of Dr. Jesus Alcazar.

Sztella Murényi Sztella Murényi – ThalesNano Nanotechnology

Sztella Murényi was born in Subotica (Serbia) in 1988. She studied biochemistry at the University of Novi Sad (UNS) (Serbia), where she obtained her M.Sc. degree in 2012. Her master thesis was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Suzana Jovanović-Šanta in the UNS and in the Institute for Oncology in Vojvodina in the city of Sremska Kamenica (Serbia). Her area of research was focused on the cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of 17-picolyl androstane derivates. She got awarded for her master’s thesis from the Dutch CheckMark Ger van Meel Foundation-Master Thesis Award in Belgrade (Serbia) on the 24th of October 2013.
Stella has started Ph.D studies at the UNS (Serbia) in October 2012 under the supervision of Dr. Snežana Maletić. Her research topic is about the removing the organic contaminants from the sediment by anaerobic treatment-production potential of biogas. Sztella is currently a Ph.D. student at ThalesNano Nanotechnology Inc. in Budapest (Hungary) under the supervision of Dr. László Kocsis (she is going to do her second Ph.D at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in Budapest (Hungary)).

Laura Berbel Laura Berbel – University of Leipzig

Laura Berbel Miñano was born in Barcelona (Spain) in 1991. She studied Chemistry at the University of Barcelona. She obtained her M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry also in Barcelona University. Her master thesis was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Pere Romea García and Dr. Fèlix Urpí Tubella. In the project she worked on the development of new methodologies for asymmetric synthesis using chiral enolates and Evans type auxiliaries. Prior to this she did his Final Bachelor’s Project under the supervision of Dr Anna Grandas Sagarra working on peptides and oligonucleotides. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student at the University of Leipzig (Germany) under the supervision of Dr. Kirsten Zeitler.
